AUGUST 22, 2008 - NY BOTANICAL GARDEN

Prepare a picnic tablecloth, tea, parasols and comestibles for the official festival meet-up & Victorian & Rococo picnic at the New York Botanical Garden! Attendees are encouraged to dress in 18th or 19th century inspired attire.

Time & Location: Visit the park from 14:00-18:00, and meet any time at the NYBG designated picnic area.

NEWS: No reservation is required to attend - and there will unfortunately not be a group discount for festival picnic guests. I apologize deeply for this news; however, the garden grounds admission fee is very affordable at $6 for adults, $5 for Bronx residents, $3 for students and seniors, and free for children.

VIP guests intending to attend the picnic are asked to please purchase their Garden admission at the Garden entrance, and bring their Garden ticket to the Montauk Club on Friday to be reimbursed for their Garden ticket at the door. There will not be a Garden guest list for VIPs at the Garden entrance - admission will be reimbursed by the Festival on Saturday.

Also unfortunate is news from the Garden that we will have to keep the picnic within the Picnic Pavilion and off the grass; however, the Pavilion will provide shade, tables and seating, as well as a more congenial setting by which to get to know other festival guests. Rather than picnic blankets, please feel free to prepare tablecloths, instead.

The Garden was chosen as the festival meet-up location not only for its beauty, but also for the privacy and intimate setting it offers to its visitors, far from intrusive crowds and tourists. I hope festival guests will not mind supporting the Garden despite the admission fee! Please note that this is the Botanical Garden in the Bronx, not Brooklyn.
