Tickets will be available June 2008.
Early reservations strongly recommended!

DATE & LOCATION:

On Saturday, July 5th, Dances of Vice returns to the venerable Montauk Club - a magnificent private Victorian clubhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn (25 Eighth Ave) - for an evening of pleasure and decadence inspired by the Orientalism craze of the early 20th century - featuring live music from 1920-30s Old Shanghai. At the time, Shanghai was revered as the "Paris of the East", but was also known as the "Whore of Asia". Which are you coming for at "Shanghai Vice"?

The Venetian gothic architecture, carved mahogany woodwork, lavish furniture, grand ballroom and intricate stained glass windows of The Montauk Club are only a few of the club's signature attributes. Rarely open to non-members, this is a rare opportunity to enjoy an evening at The Montauk Club - and poses an incentive to become a member, as well!

TIME & ENTRY:

The event will be open to guests over 18 years of age, and tickets will be on sale on this page in June 2008 for $15 per guest. Early reservations are strongly recommended - this event will sell out!

Doors open at 8PM, and the show will begin between 9 to 9:30PM. The club will close between midnight and 1AM, so please arrive early.

PERFORMANCE:

Shien Lee and Lucas Lanthier will be performing vintage Chinese jazz and blues from the Shanghai Triad Repetoire, accompanied by Grandpa Musselman & His Syncopators - who will also be providing much of the dance music throughout the evening. Special guests Jen Zak and Rhea van Liew will be performing several titillating tap-dance numbers, with more acts soon to be announced!

The club will be operating on two floors, and will feature a full bar service, live jazz and cabaret, a pool table, exciting vendors, Jen Zak's signature Polaroid photo booth, and much more.
